Welcome to the Carver-Scott Educational Cooperative computer repair course. A+
is the name of the certification given by CompTIA for proficiency in operating,
repairing and troubleshooting personal computers.
What is the benefit of the CompTIA A+ Certification? It is proof to whomever you meet that you know and have validated the hardware and software knowledge that is necessary to support the troubleshooting and repair of computers. The CompTIA A+ Certification can be presented to employers and clients alike as proof of competency and skill in this area. This certification never expires.
An A+ Certification gives employers
confidence that existing employees or new recruits have a level of knowledge that will allow them to do their jobs efficiently. It also gives employers a yardstick against which recruits and employees can be measured. A+ Certification also allows clients to rest assured that the person they hire to fix their computers has the knowledge to do so without blowing up equipment or deleting valuable data. This provides clients with peace of mind and increases repeat business. In the end, with the CompTIA A+ Certification on your side, you have more opportunities open to you in your career path.

Grades:
Your grade in this class is based on both assignments and exams.
If you attend class every day, there could easily be no homework for you
in this class. There is enough time in class to complete all assignments.
Assignments consist of labs and worksheets. Assignments are based on a fixed
point scale; while exams are curved with the best achieved score in your class
hour being 100%.
What is expected of you:
In this class it is expected that you will have a folder and a notebook
dedicated to this class. You should expect to take notes frequently. You should
bring a pencil and the notebook and folder daily. The folder is for collecting
any papers that I hand out and to keep your assignments in. Assignments are
useful for studying as most of the questions on the exams are taken indirectly
from the assignments. After the exam has been taken which includes the subject
matter of an assignment. That assignment will no longer be accepted and if not
yet turned in will be scored as zero. You may work with one other person on in
class assignments, but copying others’ work is prohibited.
In this class we will be disassembling computers and working with delicate
electronic components. Use care when handling these parts. Always follow the
instructions given so that the equipment is not damaged. At the end of each
class, make sure that the computers are stored properly also.
